Color! I love it. Thank you mark. This will help with detailing out a sub.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Pictures from U 995 after returing to Germany, she now stands on the beach as a memorial too those who did not survive the war.

Preparation to hoist her out of the water.

Ready to be placed on the shore.

Temporarely placed on a makeshift stand to complete the restauration.

Unfortunally they removed the Gruppenhorchgerat, it was the grandfather of passive sonar, also added this item to my own Uboat.

                        Manfred.

looks like they must have changed that tower somewhere over the years of restortion. And Ive always wondered about the unique deck at the memorial, and when it was chaged.

Unfortunally i don't own the book but i've collected plenty more, the pictures are the most important to me.

They have indeed changed a lot on the U995, i think they wanted a example of all boats, a lot of stuff has been removed and restaurated poorly, the tower was intially a example with wintergarden called a type IV tower, the Norwegians changed it into a tower simular to the type VIIB, no AA guns needed anymore, the war was over.
They also removed the Gruppenhorchgerat and the Ringswimmer schnorkel device, it was replaced by a Kugelringswimmer schnorkel, which was more in use during the late 40's, non the less it still stays the sole example of a VIIC which exists.
The deck was originally from teakwood and still is on the present U995, they only placed a new one.
