Hello. Back on the line again. As REVELL 1/72 SKIPJACK is sold out here in Spain, and there's one from MOEBIUS available at AMAZON, want to know: Are they more or less the same in quality? Thank you in advance.

I have been told that they are identical. Just the box art is differentIT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY! -
They are Identical. Moebious launched the kit which was later picked up and sold as Revell. I have a Revell boxed kit and what surprised me as the Revell Box is much larger then needed because the used the same box size as for the 1/72 Gato and type VII C!! I was Lucky enough to visit David as he was correcting the plug masters!Comment

To clarify a bit: Moebius simply sold a bunch of bagged parts to Revell, who then packaged them to suite their trade-style -- the changes involved instructions, decals, and box. Moebius owns the property. Revell bought the bagged parts from Moebius and sold the kits under the Revell banner. A common practice in the plastic model kit game.

Dave, have you heard any "rumblings" about Moebius or Revell coming out with any more large kits?IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

As lead-man on the SKIPJACK job
I was morally obligated to keep the Moebius inside-baseball, business stuff to myself; not doing so would have confused and muddied the waters of commerce for my Boss. Anything I said at the time, as to success/failure of SKPJACK sales, would influence peoples buying decisions. So I remained mute on the subject. On that job I was the research and (to a small degree) kit designer for Moebius, not their PR office.
Now, several years later, I feel free to be more candid when addressing the question of further big-scale submarine models from Moebius.
Will they produce more of this stuff? No, not likely.
The initial Moebius release (to date there has only been the one pressing for the Moebius brand) saw an unenthusiastic sales rate -- took at least a year for them to clear the warehouse of the cases of kits the Chinese pooped out for them. Keeping inventory in stock costs money. Little profit was realized from the product. From what I gather the SKIPJACK kit signaled the end of the Moebius brief embracement of our tiny piece of the buying public pie. The Revell buy likely put Moebius in the black, but not by much. People today want cars and SW crap, not cold-war era submarines.
(anyway, soon people will be 3D printing their own assembled, painted and weathered display piece. And so ends an industry, not to mention the Craft it once served).
We'll see a SKIPJACK re-issue -- as there is a small but consistent demand for the product -- under the Moebius, Revell or other kit 'manufacturers' label sometime in the future. But, don't camp out near the mail-box waiting for it.
So, With the recent Linberg disaster (the I-53 and I-20 monstrosities),
and the poor Moebius SKIPJACK sales, it's unlikely any major league kit producer will dip their toes into the big-scale plastic model submarine kit game again. However, maturing as I write this, is an outfit working to raise the funds to produce big-scale plastic model submarine kits suitable for conversion to r/c. There is hope on the horizon.
(Kevin, call your office).
