Experience is the best teacher and fools will learn by no other. Yep, that's me folks. I did the upper mold in silicone with a resin hard shell and that all progressed according to plan. Then, I removed the plug from the splitter board and proceeded to cast a hard shell for the lower half of the hull. The nice lady at the molding supply place in Newtown sold me some hitech release agent called JWax. Let me tell you that its about as much use a pocket on a sock. After the lower shell had cured I attempted to "pop" it off. Would it pop - would it ****. The damned thing was WELDED on; I had to split it with a Dremel and then peel its screaming body off the plug. So, after much plug repair, I have cast another silicone mold for the lower hull. Learning, learning all the time. JWax - wondering where the name came form; joker wax, jerk wax, justdoesn'twork wax, joining wax, Jeeezzes wax - ****ed if I know.
This should have been the lower hull shell. Alas, poor shell etc etc.Comment

Hi Scott,
Man I feel your pain. I don't use wax as a release agent. I use good old PVA ( poly vinyl alcohol.) comes in diff colours. Dries to a film. 2-3 coats and ready for gel coat. Never ever had a prob with it . I can bring some down. Are you at ranch on weekend ? Would love to show you mike.
