    SPAM settings

I don't know how or why, but some of you are really (really, really) good at getting legit posts flagged as spam. I think some of this has to do with photo uploads and multiple edits of a post. I took a look at the site settings and have turned off one of the more aggressive spam scanners that is installed.

Hopefully this will reduce or eliminate the false flags. The bad news is that it may also increase spam posts.

We'll give it a shot and see what happens. Let me know if you see anything wonky.

Thanks for addressing this problem -- I'm probably the guy who gets that awful 'unapproved' stamp the most because of all the pictures I place into a post. Now that you've pulled some of the teeth out of this forum, let's see how it goes from here. Again, thanks.

I seem to get it when the post includes a web link.

I just posted a long winded post with no photos. it just got blocked. A previous post also got blocked and has never been unblocked. I must admit it does sort of discourage one from posting.

I don't think there's anything to worry about.

This forum is based on a rather archaic platform (I don't want to offend the owner or the respected authors), maintained by a single person.

I think the best solution is to use BB codes and embed photos from third-party sources in your posts, rather than uploading photos to the forum.

P.S. By the way, I see your post and I see the banner - not approved.

Yes, I saw it, and even saw the unacknowledged button—disapproved. For me, the post was highlighted in red.

Now I can't see that long text post of yours. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screenshot.

I have to insert my opinion (really do not have to, but want to) “I think the best solution is to use BB codes and embed photos from third-party sources in your posts, rather than uploading photos to the forum.” - CollectiveBorg. I cannot disagree more. Upload your photos. How many older posts have links to photos that no longer exist? It is very frustrating to me to find a site that potentially answers what you were looking for only to be useless because the photos are no longer available because the linked location was deleted. Post your photos and let your build be complete for future beginners or forgetful elders like myself.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
