    About the event

Come bring your boats out to The Woodlands, TX to show off, get help, and trim them out perfectly for the 2022 season!

The day will commence at 9:00am at Bob's house where we can trim out the subs in relative convenience with good access to benches, seats and fellow sub skipper experience.

Once the boats are trimmed out and ready for the water, we will reconvene at Northshore Park off of Woodlands Lake. The venue features plenty of parking right on the water, a multitude of docks to get out and over your boats on, a boat launch for easy launch and retrieval, washroom, and much more.

After a day at the lake, we will head over to Bob Martin's home, a short 8 minute drive away, where we will enjoy some libations, steak and seafood while we relax by the pool and relive the day's experiences.

This is a great opportunity to bring unfinished projects, completed boats or even just yourself.

There will be plenty of people with decades of experience to help with final trimming of your project, or troubleshoot technical problems or questions you might have.

Don't miss out! Questions can be directed to Bob Martin at bob@rc-sub.com or via text or phone at 239-877-4280.

I am looking forward to it. Already sent my 1/48 THRESHER down in advance. Thanks for doing this Bob.

What's the water temperature of the lake. Is it OK for people to get into the water to recover a boat? Will fins and mask be available on site?

First pics are up! Check out the event gallery here:

Friday saw a swarm of enthusiastic bubble-heads head over to the Nautilus Drydocks shop to avail themselves of the facility and company to start prepping their boats for the water on Saturday.

The infamous David Merriman had already arrived on Wednesday and was immediately put to work in the shop (after an allowance of a few hours to prep his own boats, of course). Vaughn Schmitt arrived bright and early, excited to take possession of his superb 1/50 Upholder. Shortly afterward, Steve Hodges showed up in his snazzy white subcompact to prep his amazing Thresher, which had been shipped out the week earlier. Last to arrive were Ed Tordahl and Steve O'Connell. The two of them were generous enough to first swing by the Nautilus Drydock's casting partner up in south Dallas on their way down in order to pick up a fleet of new 1/77 Nautilus kits and bring them down. Once at the shop, Ed took possession of his new 1/48 Type 212, and Steve his new S Class hull and Type 209 finished sub.

The rest of the afternoon was spent in the shop, prepping boats, talking subs and learning new things from each other.

Once our endurance for shop work was exhausted, we headed out to the local grill to grab some food and drinks to wind up the day.

All in all, an amazing start to what looks to be an amazing day on Saturday. More pics and video soon!

It's not too late to attend!

We had a great time! Many thanks to Bob and Renee for their hospitality. It was good to see David M., Ed and Jason again and to meet many new faces and finally meet Vaughn and just hang out. The weather was as perfect as the comradery. Lots of sub talk and exhange of ideas and now I can say I have been to Texas! Thanks for a great time everyone!

Ought to when you're on the same latitude as Morocco.

                        Nice photos!
                        Looked like a great time.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

My flight out of Houston got canceled on Sunday morning so they put me up overnight in a hotel. Monday morning it was pouring rain. We definitely hit some good weather for the event.
