When I win my legal settlement, I am getting one.
The 57" Debor Seaview, oh yes, she will be mine.

A legal-settlement or an inheritance is the only way I could buy a $2,000. hull kit. :o

... not if you're selling NAUTILUS and SEAVIEW kits.

          David,
          Who is John Galt?

Hey, who stole my Avitar image?!

Indeed, $1800 is an enormous amount. However, I have to consider the fairly if not really good job that someone else did of creating a master of that sub in detail, & rendering it in finished form---not something I could do myself, or would even attempt to take on the years of practice & skill required to do so...In my simple ways I will finish it, with any luck after the fact.

Maybe in my own stupid way, I'm perhaps giving some kind of appreciation to the maker of that sub....Sound dumb? Well, it's damn near an art, what goes into producing such a piece, who's to say I'm an idiot to purchase such a piece, if I like it, & the poor dumb guy (no offense Dennis) who spent a lot of time & skill to make it, gets a little satisfaction knowing someone ELSE appreciates it for what it is. We're both happy.

Show me another Seaview that big & that well rendered for less I'm sold.
Until then, allow me & forgive me my moronic enthusiasm for such a monstrous behemoth. In the end, can you put a price on fun, or satisfaction, or any kind of peace of mind these days? By the way, the model railroad guys put many thousands, many more tens of thousands into their hardware than we do. Or any of the other big scale RC vehicle nuts for that matter. Those guys laugh at me & my Sci-Fi subs, & at you too. To each their own.

I only hoped to share some enthusiasm. I know that this is definitely the wrong place to be arguing about this, so apologies to David & his Type-7 fittings thread.
                John

T-Y-P-E ... Seven. This the the Das Boot thread, not the SeaView thread. We've got to keep Herr Merriman on task here! I've got a kid who keeps putting his half-finished Model on our living room couch everyday asking about the Type VII fittings kit. Kid wants to get his Christmas present underway. Mom wants a clean living room. I'm gettin' squeezed here waiting for Type VII, so focus, focus...

The delay for the props is fine--I think they'll help, as they're an easier alternative to finding or threading or filing wire rod to work with Raboesch props.

Rudder and plane linkages look to have been challenging to get right. Hope the bow planes can be made operative, but I'm sure the kit wouldn't be released unless it will provide sufficient dive plane control. FWD planes seem to have a cool factor, but if stern only still works, that's ok by me.

Naw, it's cool. Thats the 17 footer, after David's restoration.
I have shots of it from last June too, Paul Allen owns it but I got to see it before he crated it for storage at his Sc-Fi museum in Seattle here.

Not to hijack the thread back to its intended purpose, but how's the fittings kit coming along? I also hear of ongoing work on the M1 and the big D&E Skipjack...

I see you decided to go ahead and do the propellers anyway. Is that just because you are the prop master??? If it was a matter of poor thrust I would disagree very strongly.

Well said Kevin! What the Dickens are you doing Merriman? WE (the people) are waiting? Digitum Extractum pal!
