    Sci-fi fighter submarine

Last year, I built the RMMV minehunter but found it's performance to be lacking. I also had a tail heavy issue so I set it aside for a few months. After looking over the parts and a fully operational WTC, I decided to give it a new life. This new boat follow the diesel punk or Captain America styled vehicles. Post WWII is what I am going for. Work has commenced on a new tail and nose piece to adjust the proportions and reduce some of the a$$ weight. I also built a Me109 style canopy. Tear down is going really well and the linkages will still work for a new "traditional rudder and bow plane. Prop will be inside the hull with various cutouts to feed it.
Paint is going to follow a German WWII mottled camo with some accent colors. No need to paint this one black......

    The starting point:

    Final renderings:

Reminds me of those Japanese Aquaracer RC subs. You can see them in the last 30 second segment of this Youtube video,
Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

Spent some time on the gun pods today. Not sure of the placement yet but it's starting to look like a different boat. Did the bondo squeeze trick over painters tape for a perfect fit.

Linkages are finally all worked out. Rudder barely clears the tube and the dive planes are a bit unconventional. Slop free........

Got the detail parts sanded and fitted to the hull. Liking the proportions but will slim down the bow planes a bit. I also need to do the tail bits to see it all together.
Still a bit worried about being tail heavy but the new tail cone is much lighter than the previous models impeller, brass stator and brass prop blades.

You are a genius, but I wish that you would use your talents for good rather than evil! How about a 1/96 scale Borei? I know you can do it (and I really want one, and I can't do it!) Come back to the light, you evil genius!!!

Did a float test and my hunch was correct...Tail heavy. Going to build a couple rear pods to add buoyancy to the rear.

Got the pods mounted and will start to blend them to the hull this weekend. More than tripled the volume of the foam above just to be safe. I can always add weight.

Some final renders to show all the components and a paint direction. I hope it runs well so we are not wasting more time on this pig.
