Its Brad's 1/72 scale Tyhoon. Either that or an eight foot long croc.

    Scott I have a daft question.....if I may......

What are the dimensions of the sail on this thing? Preferably the length and width at the base.

Many thanks if you could let me know.

    Peter

Exactly that. It took some time to decide on the pattern of tiles because every photograph that I looked at showed a slightly different pattern. The tile joints get slightly larger towards the rear of the sub. I don't know why; it just appeared that way in some of the photographs, so I replicated it. Before removing the masking I painted about 20% of the tiles a slightly darker balck and about 5% in blue/black just to get some variation in them.

    Thks Scott.

How did you get your stunning tiling look?

Did you apply masking tape and color variation in the paint?

Might have been simpler to use a single cylinder to raise/lower a platform holding all the mast together.
Initially I planned to use two pumps. One to raise the attack periscope and open the torpedo doors and a second one to raise all the other masts. Also looked at a rotary hydraulic switch that would have given me twelve combinations to raise and lower different masts. When I did the initial trials it became apparent that a single system operating all the masts would suffice because each mast offers slightly different resistance and operates at a different rate. In practice that means that the masts appear individually untill they are all up and then retract one by one untill thay are all down. By stoping or reversing the pump I get different combinations of masts to deploy. Working quite well now and since changing from pneumatic to hydraulic there are no more unintended mast launches.
