How bout this, my European doubleganger:

Go back to the roots of the design. drop the stern internal rotor exhausting out a non-scale nozzle, put a proper bullet fairing on the ass end and direct water flow, via hoses behind the rotor, to the two outboard propulsors. Pitch the propulsors for angle control, and use a pinch-valve on each hose to get yaw control. And it's entirely faithful -- in looks and function -- to the original art work.

    Duh!

How about this for water pump control.
      One pumps water into chamber.
Servo rotates chamber to direct hydraulic flow.
Should only need on off for pump and one servo for direction.

Drove her today, yesterday evening i took a gamble, modified the rudder into a kortnozzle, placed the prop just at the rear, and lord and behold, it works!!!!, just have to design a better kortnozzle.
Tomorrow some pics of the rudder/ prop evolution.

David, that could be also a solution, but i tried to keep it as simple as possible, fool that i was, but hey, she dives on speed and i can control the direction, if that alters the look, so be it.
To relieve you more, the XXI ran great, running her without ADF, i can partially control the depth with adjusting the speed.

To answer your question Andy, there was still a lot of backflow of water, solved this to place the prop near the end, this was the solution to get me decent thrust without airsucking.

As promised some pics from the evolution to steer and propel the Spirou, main problem was, sucking air and backflash of water through the vents.

First i tried Andy's advice, glued down a plate at the top vent, still backflash of water and poor propulsion, came up with the idea to make a funnel around the prop, tested this to no avail, still the same problems.

Then i decided to bring the prop all the way near the end, made a new shaft to get this done.

Had to replace the rudder and steering of the rudder, left a bit of a funnel to cover up the prop.

Just a day before the event of yesterday i decided to make a kortnozzle to steer the waterflow, had some plexiglass tube in the spare parts draw, yet again i had to adapt the steering, the small copper funnel was removed during the event, resulting in more steering as with the funnel.

The diameter of the kortnozzle is a bit small, want to make a new one slightly bigger to cover up the complete prop, so lesson learnt, sometimes less is more, still have to dail down the throw of rudder on the transmittor, she's a bit too much itchy to steer, to be contnued.
