Greetings! Today i started constructing the forward deck reling. Nothing special here, soldering two v-shaped posts BUT again lots of research in photo reference to determine the right position. Not sure yet what i will be using to represent the handrail, 1mm brass rod/ stainless steel wire/ABS rod.
The posts are from 2mm brass rod. Everything on the external details is slightly thicker than scale, since i want to have all of it in good shape when i surface back again in one of our local lakes...

Done! I made a simple wooden jig to stick the pins into and an aluminum clamp to position the outer frame on on of the sticks.Leave a comment:

Filled up the deck sockets, they were wrong. Modified the hinge..

First attempt on making the hinge for the deck hatch:
Than i accidently found THIS shot of a Long Bin's forward deck on a thread of the original Projekt 613:
Still a looong way to go...

Filed the resin discs to shape. They're made from tough light curing dental filling composite ;-)
Mixed up epoxy filler and filled several gaps that could catch air bubbles on the inside of the upper hull. Also finished up laminating of the gfk rod on the bow, added a further strip of thick glass on top.
To prevent the filler from flowing, i brushed over powder collected from sanding grp parts. Originally intended to be used with CA, i now regularly keep clean portions of that"waste" to stiffen fillers/resin etc. Universally useful...

Stern lantern done! Same as the bow lantern, a casing from PU and a rod from clear acrylic to both mimic the glass and forming a pin to secure it in a hole through the deck.

Right. As said before, this was designed as a dry-hull like the classic Engel Kits.
That boat eats Sandpaper and Drill bits!!!Leave a comment:

He's put some glass into that hull, reckon you could knock fence posts in with it!Leave a comment:
