Are the motors big enough? How about the ballast tank -- you got enough volume there to get your boat all the way to proper surfaced waterline?

    Appears to run smooth underwater.

The motors and power source all seem to be more than adequate to propel the boat above and below the water as I had not really had the need to fully power up the motors during the sea trials.

However, having said that I found that I had lost power of the port motor durring the final leg of testing.
Preliminary testing indicates the port motor is toast.

The ballast portion of the subdriver appears to be sufficient to provide for the Gatos high freeboard stature, or at least close enough for government work, this once adjustments to the vent valve are made. It appears initial adjustment were not sufficient to maintain proper seal of the vent and its removal and further adjustment will be needed for it to form the necessary seal to maintain any sort of surface trim.

Other than that everything went as well as expected. The boat handled well with reasonable turning, diving, surfacing capabilities and I didn't need to go swimming, not that that would have proven to be unpleasant as this lake is like an oversized swimming pool, nice sandy bottom and the gators aren't much over 8 feet. What more can one ask for!

Keep me informed on that bad motor -- gotta know what happened. It was one of those Traaxas units, AL?

        Alligators?!.....

        You and Mark are nuts!

What a magnificent looking boat you have there, pal.

Thanks for your gracious comments of the boat, Dave.
Yea, I'll keep you posted, my repairs will not be immediate, but placed onto my list of things to do.

Btw, I was just kidding about the alligators. This lake is part of the park normally used for swimming by families and campers of the park and generally monitored by park officials. Not to say a stray gator couldn't make its way into it, their hasn't been a report of fatalities or incidents of gator attacks there, I've checked. Something like that would be difficult to keep under raps, and I don't believe the park would welcome such negative publicity are my thoughts. Hey, that's why I keep my 9mm mini Glock at the ready. Ha!

          Al,

Repair to the port motor completed. Cause of malfunction appears to point to improper seating of the reduction gear within the port side reduction assembly, this also appears to have led to binding of the shaft and seizure of the port motor.

Next order of business, adjust vent-valve for proper sealing.

                      Absolutely Mark,

What would a fleet be without an Admiral! Congrads are in order on your recent promotion.
