Just read the plot on wiki, nice story. A modern remake would be nice.

If you want to see a REALLY GOOD submarine movie, watch "Down Periscope" starring Kelsey Grammer. Aside from some unnecessary sexual references, its a Fantastic movie. It has a Balao class sub that was mothballed and restored to beautiful condition for Wargames. Diesel sub with eccentric Captain vs. Los Angelos sub and a whole flock of destroyers and Frigates and aircraft. Hilarious and Fun. You will find yourself cheering when the Evil Admiral Graham gets beaten at his own game. I highly recommend.

What do you mean...."screaming pile of *****!!??? What other movie can you name that shows a Fleet boat progressing, tip toeing thru the propwash of a tanker to evade a search? What other movie shows a crew of Misfits carefully honed into a loyal fighting machine? And finally, what other movie shows a female Dive officer swallowing her fears and taking charge of an all man boat with success? HUM! I think you need to re-think this ......Sir Keep in mind, this is for entertainment purposes and not for actual, possible or even likely events

I received the aformentioned videos and I must say that I enjoyed them. I also ordered National Geographics "Lost Subs". Showing the situation with the American Squalis and the Momson diving bell was very good. It also reviewed the sinking of the Thresher. The only survivor was interviewed. He left the boat to care for his wife in the Hospital just before the final test of the boat. He had said that the Thresher and her crew were under tremendous pressure by the Authoritys to get the boat qualified and to "Test Depth". It would go out again and again with one failure after another. He said the hull was all twisted up and that months were spent to try to get it ready for another attempt. Its believed that a water leak shorted out the reactor controls and the reactor did what it supposed to do under those circumstances, it scrammed. Therefore there was no power and it sunk below crush depth tail first and .........that was all. The "Trieste was sent down and found the wreckage scattered over a three or four mile area. Not much left.

It also reviewed the "Kursk" sinking. One item that I never heard before was that as the torpedo's were being loaded, one of the Hydrogen Peroxide torpedo's was dropped on to the ground. It should have been taken back to the shop for a thorough inspection. Instead it was loaded anyway. That is the torpedo that they believe was loaded into the tube first and that caused the initial explosion.
