I like these ideas. Maybe a combination of the ideas the hinge secured at the back and
a string over the rod to pull it forward. So Kazzer what did you use to draw your illustrations?

Or you could extend the length of the door forward, and then use a ram to shut it. Have the door pivot on a rod at the extension. The ram rod would go straight to the breach, so as it slid, the door opened.

Hmm! Rather than use a stiff board to pull the door in and out ---
Why not a weak spring to keep it out, and a string to pull it in. There would need to be a vertical rod for the string to go round. This would be placed in the center of the boat vertically. Both port and starboard strings could go round this pole/rod and straight to the servo.

This illustration was found at Accurate model parts.http://amp.rokket.biz/am_1_72_gato_s...orshtspn-b-072
So the plan is to activate the door in this motion which also will allow the addition of
the torpedo tube door. If this does not pan out then I can use the idea already posted.
This site also has accurized spoon and square doors.

Found out ramp position did not work correctly.
So I modified the ramp as seen in last picture then reinstalled.
Door shown in closed then open position.

Center door opened by pulling arm to rear.
This arm mechanism pulls down the centerline.
