Kudos to Bob and his sacrifce of a Hitec HS-5086WP for science!!

    Bob,

Excellent video regarding the post examination of the Hitec HS-5086WP with respect to water ingress.

Waterproof servo testing UPDATE! What was inside after a week!?

Though she sat at roughly 2/3rds of the IP-67 Depth Rating, she exceeded the 30 minute time spec by some 3500%!!

Well enough for 90% of us who rarely exceed PD.

While I'm not convinced as many of you are regarding Brushless motor in the wet as I still believe those ferrous magnets are exposed (I hope time proves me wrong), anything that can live wet is a bonus.
I already proved it with the MTRONIX VIPER ESC, which also BTW was confirmed via email

Here is the copy of the email with their response.....

    Hi,

Yes, our controllers are 100% waterproof, they will continue to work under water and have been rescued from the bottom of ponds after a number of months still working!

    Best regards,

This servo is a game changer for us, even at it's price!

So now that it's confirmed that these servos (at least one sample) exceeded its specs enough for us...

What do we do about the electrical side? Connecting to the RX via a waterproof connector.

I used the two following methods (pictures).

So my question to all those out here, what else can we do?

Also, here is a link to 3D files of the Hitec HS-5086WP for you Designers out there!
