    Wanted: 1:48 Scale Skipjack

Interested in a 1:48 Scale Skipjack (De Boer) if possible, but otherwise just wanting to build a larger boat!

I just got one yesterday (DeBoer 1/48 skipjack) I wasn't planning on instantly selling it but I'm also not all that attached to it. I'm more of a WWII and older fan. Got anything to trade?

Hrrrm I don't have too much, but I do have a 1:72 Revell Type VIIc that I had started but not completed, as well as some of the bits for one of Mr. Merriman's subdrivers for it. Let me take a look at what all I've got on that one.

Okay, well I'm a little interested in your 1/72 type VII depending on what you have for it. Here is the good, bad and ugly on the skipjack. It looks to have been a working model at some point with a WTC. There is no WTC or any internal parts with it now. The original DeBoer rudders and stern planes are still with it (not installed). I guess the original stern planes are incorrect in that the whole plane pitches instead of just a small part of it as it should be, or maybe your supposed to cut that out yourself? Anyway, somebody makes the correct style parts for it and they are included with this boat (the white parts). They need a lot of clean up work but look very usable. There are some crude periscopes and masts included and some linkages and yokes in rough condition.

Use the white resin horizontal stabilizers and stern planes -- worth the effort needed to clean them up. The Stock rudders look serviceable.

            I'm interested.

Let me get some photos of the good, the bad, and the ugly on what I've got for the Type VIIc. This might take me a day or two, because I want to make sure I'm as complete as possible. I have a couple different boxes of stuff, spread around from a couple moves.

And as a quick aside.... the Skipjack is such a good looking boat. I understand why the Godfather himself has been involved in both his 96 scale and the Moebius 72 scale Skipjacks. They're just such good looking machines.

                  WOW Yes David!

I really enjoyed building my Skipjack (one of my first) It dose not hold a candle to craftsmanship that went into the build you did on your boat!

I am still very proud of this build! I did a very basic, hardly scale build. The final finish and trim was very simple! (a newbie just learning) Even though the WTC I scratch built for this boat is a surface runner version (enough speed and more pool length I may have got a dynamic dive) Might be one of these days I will pull it off the wall and do it right!

Ok, digging through boxes to show you the most complete view of what I have as far as the hull, and the WTC bits. I'm still hunting through some other boxes to see if I'm missing anything.
