I recently purchased a third hand (at least) 1/96 Skipjack. There was some damage in shipping - hopefully I can fix it all. One of the things that got broken was the rudder yoke.

I intend to solder the broken collar back on with ordinary Sn/Pb solder using a brass rod to keep alignment.

Is this a reasonable method or should I just buy a new one from you? Perhaps you've improved the design.

Your methodology is the same as mine, but for one big difference: I use an aluminum tube to hold the wheel-collars in position during the soldering operation. That way the solder won't stick to the mandrel as the union between wheel-collar and U-shaped yoke is made.
