    Clear plastic parts

Okay, I know that this question will get me even more than the usual amount of derision, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

How do you glue the clear plastic windows in your model without getting smudges on them? I'm asking for my Seaview but it applies to any model with clear plastic parts.
    Hope is a harsh mistress!

The smart-ass answer is, 'very carefully'. On the SEAVIEW window part, there is plenty of flange area around the edges. Just put a little bead of RTV adhesive (the clear stuff) on the face, right up to the edges of the window part and push it into place. Don't push too hard or the RTV will squirt inboard and get into the line of sight of the observer.

It's out there, but hard to find. If it's opaque, that's fine too, just be careful not to use so much that it squeezed out onto the 'glass'.

Being a model builder I use CA or super glue. Take note that CA produces a precipitate that'll fog the clear parts. What I do first is brush on or dip the clear parts in "Future" floor polish or something similar. This prevents the CA from fogging on the part and improves the clarity of the part by covering any blemishes. Just scrape off the future at the edges of the parts with a hobby knife for the CA to grab on.

I had the same question but found the rtv sealant at amazon. It does work great but you have to be careful!
