    servos slip on rail?

    David:

Got the Gato S/D yesterday. Started putting it together today. Everything going great until I noticed that the sub micro servos (blue) are slipping up and down the rail they are mounted too. Can't get the lock ties any tighter? Do you put a little RTV between the rail and servo before lock ties are applied? What's the secret?

You could simply CA the servos to the rails but I think this is a better alternative (in case you need to replace the servo later).

    1. Snip off the old ties.
    2. stick on some sandpaper to the inside of the rails in contact with the
    servos.
    3. Apply new lock ties around the servo and rail.

Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

That's a viable fix. CA or sandpaper and tie-ties.

And I've just introduced a new scheme of fitting the servos to the SD, pictures below. This arrangement is now standard with any 2.5" SD employing the two motors. In the center is the 'old' way of mounting servos. The two outboard examples (one outfitted with devices, the other not) are of the new SD servo mounting scheme, now factory standard.

        New servo mount

Looks good. I like it. Wish that had been standard for the Gato S/D I got yesterday.
