Radioberry 0-30Mhz SDR radio for Submarine control

Has anyone used the Radioberry for control of a submarine yet?
was thinking of connecting the receiver on land to a Rasberry Pi (Arduino shown for illustration only) then having another Pi on the sub with a Radioberry connection between the two. Pi on sub then performs control as per RC controller.

Was curious as to the range and depth that the radioberry could get to with the lower frequency range.

Some very quick research shows you'd need an amplifier as 20mW will be limited, though I think SubEd used 10mW and got a few feet under.

Looks like you'll also need a custom protocol between the radios. Have you got that far?

Have not got that far yet, was just checking on whether i was reinventing the wheel. Will be getting 2 of the units in 2 weeks so i can have a bit of a play with protocols and bandwidth. Thanks for the tip on the amplifier. will look at what would be a good boost once i have the comms worked out with baud rate etc.
