Pen Video Camera - 4GB - does / can anyone suggest a waterproof case for this?

    Hi guys,
I spied this at my local electronics outlet yesterday.
I haven't bought one yet but I am fairly excited about it.

Looks like you don't need the forward half of the pen - just the rear half.

I have used the larger Oregon Scientifc camera's but what I have been wanting for some time is something around this size to conceal either within say conning tower or that will fit in a 1/72 DSRV (which is a substantially smaller diameter than the oregon product).

The product recharges off a USB PC port - so there is no battery required to be carried.

Mike, not sure if you can get these (or would want to), but do you guys have a small WTC that could hold this?

Also I have no idea about how good this camera is does anyone have any experience with it? Seems like you get either Video or Audio (not both) or still pictures.

The lense is on the top flat section of the pen. Ideally the WTC would pretty much sleave fit the device so its as small as possible.

I got one. Works fine. Produces both video and audio. I've only stuck it in r/c planes.

Problem is that the lens line-of-sight is perpendicular to the axis of the pen so a WTC needs a flat lens situated on the side of the long axis of the cylinder, likely inset within a cast resin removable end-cap. Only practical placement would be half-way in the hull and the lens portion of the cylinder in the sail, with the lens looking through a deadlight or in a hole cut into the leading edge of the sail.

The thing loads the software needed to copy and see the video on your computer during set-up -- very simply and fast.

I bought mine for $20 about two years ago.

      Thanks David,
shame there is nothing like this at this size and with the lens on the end of it.

I like this quote "protecting your legal rights by capturing a video or audio record of an event" , by brother in law did just that, he was taking a client to court for non payment, and pre hearing during a meeting the client let fly that he was in the wrong but they couldn't prove it. The sound bite was inadmissable but they let the guy know they had it.

There is, it's called a 'lip-stick' camera, but I don't know where to get 'em.

Will someone who has one of these slip it into a test tube dip it into some water and give us an idea of the distortion we would see?
Don't get cranky. I just thought I would ask.

Just did some testing of the little spy-camera in a length of 1.25" Lexan cylinder -- not too bad.

Here's the video shot about an hour ago:

The little 808 keyfob cams give excellent value for money. You need to do a little bit of research to get the best out of them, and you also need to make a waterproof housing if using them on a submarine.

They're very small about 2" long by 1.25" at the widest point, and weigh about half an ounce with a micro SD card and the built in lipo battery.

Version 3 cameras give the best image quality. With a 4Gb micro SD card, which will give you about an hours recording time, you can be up and running for about £12 ($20).

Shed loads of information on these cameras at this site- http://www.chucklohr.com/808/

There are also these, but the price is a LOT higher.

has anybody tried the "watch" style devices? if you search "camcorder watch waterproof" on ebay, you will see 4gb and 8gb models for less than $40, and they claim to be waterproof to 10 feet. curious if anyone has tried them, are they really waterproof? I suppose i should just buy one and test it.
