The Nautilus is one of my favorites as well. I tried to post the original photo in it's entirety, but no luck transferring the photo to the forum. Oh well!

As an update to my 1/48 Gato are some still shots taken at a local watering hole here in Ospray Fl.
I should be able to post some video of the boat in operation here shortly.
Here is one of the video's that were taken by Mark, Greenman407 during our visit to Big Lake, at the Oscar Scherer State Park in Ospray Florida. Thanks for looking. http://youtu.be/4Jyp5kSOZp0

I decided to add some additional detail to the Gato today, this based on a desire to simulate the appearance of the traditional outer torpedo doors quite often seen on some of the kits offered by companies such as Alexander Engel, and Revell.
In any regard, I gave it my best shot by outlining what I thought to be the basic configuration of the tubes as depicted on the Engel Gato model, and then attempted to duplicated the affects by routing out a layer of the fiberglass hull without completely puncturing the hull with my dremel, and various accessory tools, again simply hoping not to really screw up the bow of the boat altogether, Ha!
Is it the best that could be done, probably not , but ok for my pay grade. Someone once said, " All you can do is give it your all, " and then try to improve on that in the future.
A paint touch-up to the forward section is next. Hopefully it will turn out OK.
Most recent upgrades to ny Gato incl. propeller guards, and deck lanterns fore and aft.
My understanding has been that while the prop guards were generally taken off the boats as the war progressed, temporary guards had been placed back on when in port for repairs and such.
With that in mind I've fabricated the guards to be removable and only placed onto the model when shown in static display.
POI, I found that while the photo's may be hard to see, repeatedly clicking onto them will help to enlarge the original.
