1.Real name is Steven Reichmuth (Albacore569) (favorite sub)
2. My birth date: Jeez - I think I am younger than Merriman and older than Bob Martin.
3. Born in Oakland California.
4. Lived in California San Francisco Bay Area all my life so far.
5. Number of years in RC subs: Gosh since the 1990s off & on, starting by building scratch build museum models then to RC subs. Those shipyard resin paper weight desk models in Museum just didn't cut it. Merriman's fault! Read his Albacore article in Scale ship Modeler and I was hooked. Wrote many articles in Sub Committee Report. Was for a time SCR Photo editor for covers when they were printed then. More to come soon returning to writing. New article on HMS Meteorite this fall.
Then took a break for UFO Investigations 6 years - 400 cases with MUFON. Chief Investigator Northern California. Then tired how slow the UFO/UAP click old farts protecting their castles - so **** that and retired there (those lazy asses - something so damn important & all they wanted to do was take credit for my work and brag on radio talk shows), returned to RC and static model building Retired. Never really saw anything, but got in some real firsthand witness reports where they actually happened. Learned a lot about people.
6. Current fleet: USS Albacore Museum Static Model ((1/96) , USS Permit SSN 594 1/96, in Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum since 1999 honoring Mare Island built nuclear submarines, USS Scamp 1/96 SSN 588, in Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum since 1999 honoring Mare Island built nuclear submarines. D&E Skipjack (in photo below winning first place at Spreckels Late 1995. Sold sadly HMS Tireless, & USS Skate sold off to help pay mortgage during lean times. Skip Asay Albacore. Now currently French Argonaute 1/32 scale, Israeli submarine Tanin 1/48, Brooklyn Tugboat, SS Argonaute is my flag ship, built by Bob Martin, and his crew, and a little by Matt Thor and me. Bobs son painted those wavy 'onion rings camo' on the Argonaute masts perfectly. Welldone! Did hull master's for D&E Skipjack and Asay's Albacore kits with assist from Tom Anderson on Albacore. Mortgage now paid off...BTW. lol.
7, Currently Building: SNA Suffren French nuclear attack submarine 1/64 scale. CB Italian sub in concert with David Merriman.
8. Dream of sub I want to build: USS AL-4 Submarine Div 5, Ireland WW 1. in 1.32!
9: Favorite sub movies: 'Run Silent Run Deep' (1959), 'Das Boot' (1984) , 'Close Quarters' UK (1943-44), 'Hunt for red October' (On TV every day somewhere now played ot death) 'The Cruel Sea' UK (1956), The Enemy Below' (1959). Sorry so many cool ones. Favorite Movie line in a sub movie? "The Miami Yacht races were never like this". (Enemy Below)
10. Things I love about this hobby: All the interesting, brilliant people I meet in this hobby. History. Operating subs and shooting the bull at sub events out in the sunny weather (or foul weather too..lol).
11. Love and hate about Hobby? Making my pwn parts. Happy because it makes me think, bad it's not made already like the spoiled RC car gang. Stupid kids!
12: Pizza Toppings: Extra Cheese, Salami, sausage, Bell pepper, black olives. I make a deep-dish Pizza too. (ask for recipe)
