Tech help please - Building a Hump battery pack from NiMH cells?

    Hi guys
I was wondering if you had any tips that you could provide me on making up a 7.2V NimH battery from single 1.2 cells.

I want to make a hump pack - very rare here in Australia to buy. (Yes I know about Lipos and their benefits - but what I'd like to know is about putting a NiMH pack together). A Hump battery pack is literally a bundle of 1.2 vcells. By contrast, a RC stick is what you typically put in a RC car - its a long stick like shape. A 7.2v Hump battery is just a different arrangement of cells that allows different space to be used. Sometimes the term saddle battery is used for a 7.2 v battery where the 6 x 1.2v cells are arranged in 2 groups of 3.

First I can get cells with solder tabs - these all have different capacities, but given I want to use a fairly fast charger (3A charger)- are there some cells on the market that I should avoid? Are these typically marked or coded for not being able to be fast charged?

Next the soldering itself - how much heat etc - any special technique?

Getting shrink wrap round the outside any ideas?

    Many thanks
    John
