I have the kit, looks like it can be made to work with a kilo subdriver. Here is a link to my pictures:

        The hull is hollow.

Now, that is one SLICK looking kit! And thank you so much for posting those pictures ... I had no idea!

Yes, perfect for conversion to r/c, though I would recommend the Type-212 SD, which features a geared motor and a larger ballast tank (that GRP hull looks pretty thick, but then again, the THRESHER class had a very, very low freeboard).

Are the black top and red lower hull pieces separate pieces or do they come prebonded?

Think they are molded first and then glassed together. The hull weighs about 5 ozs and the rest of the plastic parts weigh another 2 ozs. I paid $95 including shipping from Modelterra. We need a fittings kit!.

2" Kilo SD or take an alternate route with a dry hull with removable stern cone end cap and a piston ballast system.

                Something like this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7LCa4Tj4_7A

I'll run it by Mr. Caswell.

Mr. Caswell wants to contact the manufacturer to talk a distribution deal on these kits. Do you have any leads he can follow?

The Boss and I would love to add this product to the catalog.

Yes well lets hope the dear leader can take my money sooner rather than later. I know I won't be a Robinson Crusoe buyer of the Albacore. Its not a Herculean start from scratch effort here. From past postings its a ducks nuts away from being done. There will always be these new toys popping up. The 1/35 X craft is another that springs to mind - but just wish there was end in sight for this project ASSWIPE - this has been dragging on now for what seems like years and undoubtedly is.
