Hee Heee. Have a go at the water line marking on that Kilo. Its like a dog's hind leg. Makes me feel so much better about my painting skills!
Assembling the Arkmodel 1/72 KILO kits ... that's right: kits!

Watching this with keen interest David. Folks I chickened out on MR Fengs Kilo a couple of years back. I must profess I had a complete brain failure over how the heck I was meant to tackle this assembly when the boat was setup to be a dry hulled approach. Seeing this work by David underway, and the fact that Hardrock aka Scott had a kit for sale, I'm back in the game. Scott dropped the kit off today, which is the first day I've had in the cave for months. Least I can do whilst I'll wait for PROJECT ASSWIPE, which I am fast coming to the conclusion is just a twisted plot by David to **** me off. Don't blame him really.
Cheers

PS David, did the two kits your working on come with Feng's stern cone? The instructions in the one I got from Scott clearly show it. This stern cone allows for rear plane and rudder assembly as a separate section to the hull. Its a part that is missing from the kit I bought from Scott.
Thanks
John
Yes, the instructions I have show the separate stern-cone as well. But that does not reflect at all how the actual hull parts are divided. I just ignored it. I assume the initial design (and maybe first run of kits) employed a blow-molded hull, but they dropped that production method and retreated to the more familiar GRP lay-up.
But, if I get you right, your kit parts require a stern cone. If so, what is your hull made of?

no need for the stern cone as the kit came with a complete hull. My hull appears identical to the one's you have in this build thread.
Like yours this will be a torpedo carrying sub. I plan to drop a 3" SD into it. As like your early suggestion I don't think it will need much in the way of ballast to get her under. Its a pretty thin walled boat.
Started yesterday by strapping the bow hull to the rear with brass straps and screws like yours.
Was wondering what the problem is with the propeller David?
