    Places to run!

In my travels all over central Florida, Im always on the look out for new places to run. I found these in just the past couple of weeks. They look promising.Click image for larger version

I mean...there are thousands of Lakes and ponds in Florida, but most of them are restricted access or absolutely wild with no good shore areas and too many lily pads or not long enough straight aways or too much junk in the water or not clear enough or.....................................

Looks pretty past the weed beds near shore.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

I ran at Devil's Den with Al Nucifora a year or two ago. Beautiful spot!

I was there about 5 or 6 years ago and the Winter that year had been cold enough to transform that Pea Green water into clear bath water. It was amazing the underwater obstacles that the outside pond had for Divers.................and unintentionally....subs. There were several arches and short tunnels that you could run thru. Ive never seen it clear since then.

Yes, that place would be good for High speed boats. Wear a pair of tall waterproof boots, step out 2 or 3 steps and your in the clear. Also, a rake would take care of that at your launching spot.

Heres a spot on Highway 60, near Lake Wales at an overpass. Looks like a good site for running the Big Swamp Buggy airboat. That little area there in the middle would be great for hitting it hard at full speed and Jumping over it. Click image for larger version

Here is a Panoramic shot of my favorite sub spot, in Clearwater, Florida. Click on the picture to see the whole thing. Because its a Panoramic shot the ponds edge looks curved but its not. Its a long straightaway of clear water, perfect for walking along with your sub, keeping it in sight just off shore. Here is another spot, not far from the other place on Hwy. 60. Looks better. Lots of shade. Good Swamp Buggy territory. The stream is flowing.Click image for larger version

These pictures were taken with my Iphone and saved to the company laptop, and then transfered using the Iphone as a hot spot.

Heres a spot that is a veritable paradise. Better suited for model boats than subs as the water is PEA Green. Just like you put a tunnel for your HO scale model train to run thru, to increase the excitement, this place has railroad trestles and Pylons and interconnecting streams and canals.
Its a canal that connects Lake Shipp and Lake Eloise, in Winter Haven , Florida, just off Hwy. 17. Just a lil FYI.

Can you imagine the Swamp buggy running thru here at "Full Tilt Bogey?" Or the Blackjack at 50 MPH or the Wave Slave at 70???!!!

Then there is Lake Sears. Good Swamp Buggy stuff. Lily pads and weeds and straw, fun to run thru, again and again, back and forth. Such conditions woulds stop cold, a sub or a race boat. But the good ol Swamp buggy will push right thru thar!
