    Paint used on scale model conversions

    Basically I want to know;

    - what type of paint do you use, enamel, acrylic,
    lacquer
    - mode of application
    - durability/resistance to effect of water and
    contact with other surfaces
    - effect on the styrene material of the kit

          Doesn't lacquer dissolve styrene or make it brittle?

            Yeah. If you dip the model into the stuff.

              I use acrylac enamal automotive primer over the Plastic. It doesnt have any effect from the keetone on the plastic and serves as a base coat. I dont have to wipe down the plastic with the solvent for the mold release. After the primer, some waterbase acrylacs seem to be durable to ultraviolet light and adhear to the primer well. You can seal the paint with matt clear, but I haven noticed any differance, with or without. Styrene?? Keetone? halfway to C-4. Use to indoctronate Boots with the "Go get me this here styrofoam cup full of that stuff out in the paintlocker drums that has the lable MEK, and see how fast you can get it back here" "and dont forget to lock up the drum before you leave"
