    My mate the sub builder

Hello all in my HMS Vengeance thread I alluded to a sub my mate, Roger Suitters, was building well I now have his permission to show you what he is doing,

Some of you may remember his Perry submersible that he wrote build reviews in the Up Scope section of the MMI magazine and he did a write up on it in the SCR (many years ago). Below are some pics of that sub completed and running since about 2004.

This one works beautifully well with a modified toothpaste tube as a vertical piston.

Anyway this is the NR-1 he has scratchbuilt

Excellent work! Can you give us some info on the sizes and operating systems. Looks as though he belongs as a regular contributor to this forum.
IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!

Hello Mark, the Nr-1 is yet to be fitted out with RC etc. but the plans are to have the 4 diagonal thrusters working, in fact he has just worked up a prototype for these but is in the middle of moving house. The Rear planes on the actual sub have motor pods in the moving planes and he has chosen to replicate these with 90 degree gearboxes to allow working props and planes.

Also knowing him the lights will be fully working, that seems to fall in with another thread elsewhere here. He also has an excellent sense of attention to detail.

Oh yes the size, sorry. It was built so that the cylindrical part of the hull could be commercially available 4" acyrilic tube and it is about 4 ftish long.

Both of those subs are beautiful. Peter can we encourage him to join us here?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
