From what I gather, it's due to a lack of sales. Their boat hardware was on the expensive side. The email stated that: "Dumas is closing. But we prefer to think of it as sailing off into the sunset."Comment

Amazon is the real culprit, IMHO. All the local Hobby Stores were forced to close. No more hand crafted models displayed in store windows. No more model train layouts in the middle of the store at Christmastime. No more sage advice from the store owner. No more local bulletin boards. Local culture and communities were destroyed. Now everything is “on line”, virtual or AI simulation.

Links. I will miss their line of Chris Craft Boats models. They are beautiful to look at.Comment

Hmm, i think people buy online because the range of products is greater and the price is cheaper. Too much looking back through rose tinted spectacles, I remember sloping around model shops only to not find what i was looking for half the time.

No system is perfect and I accept my partial complicity by embracing the digital world. I just maintain that the losses exceed the benefits, especially from a cultural aspect.Comment

Never really found much inspiration in model shops for subs. When it comes to availability of stuff, I've never known it better, almost too much choice really, which can sometimes bring its own problems.
What I do miss are the large model shows, they've almost completely vanished in the UK.
