OTW and Bob Dimmack - some sad news to report

Posting this today with a heavy heart. Bob Dimmack suffered a fall in his home and his wife Liz tells us that he will not recover from this accident. OTW and Bob have been around the hobby for a long time, and Bob's customer service was always top notch. Please keep him and his wife in your thoughts and prayers (if you are so inclined).

Saddened to hear about Bob. Falls are so often really bad news when you're older.

          That's unfortunate.
Unrecoverable injury from a fall may denote brain or spinal cord damage.

I'm so sorry what a great Loss.

I was told he had two employees, one making the dive modules and another the electronics.
Also, there is a American tech support for OTW in Florida.

I hope after a period of morning, his dear wife will continue the business in whatever form she chooses.
So, we can continue to benefit from Bob's superb products regarding Bobs Dive modules at least.

Bob really cared about his products and his customers very much. He surprised me once going to the
trouble to phone me in California all the way from UK. wow. Personal service. I will miss him.

Best way I only knowin how to honor him is continuing to work in my shop & pressing on with my projects,
Suffren front & center. With one of his dive modules as planned inside. Thank you, Bob, his wife and all at OTW.

Steve Warner did much of the pattern work for OTW I believe. In the early days (pre-millenium) they used Craycraft module's with Mike Stothers (Solid state then later microgyros) electronics, I later met the chap who made the newer water pump based modules at a show.

Sad day for me. Worked on several projects for Bob including the S Class, Nacken and Type II. After years of working together, We finally got to meet when he visited California with Lizzy.

Yes, I knew. His favorite ale Bob drank with friends was IPA (India Pale Ale). Since there are so many brands of IPA it's a type of ale not a brand but a family of brands, I guess any kind will do. Cheers Bob we will miss you.. Salutes you. Wish I could be there for service.

                          Angel frogmen? OTW Arriving. :)

I am still saddened at Bob's passing. He reached out to me to 3D print a dozen more scopes for his Astute submarine. He was always a pleasant man to work with. He is a huge loss to our hobby.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

The long lax time between Bobs passing and the funeral service was due to waiting seemingly forever painfully for the bureaucratic death certificate.

What will happen with OTW is too soon to tell. Had a happy & Sad long conversation with Ken Griffin in Florida, a long time RC submariner and close friend to Bob and American representative for OTW line of products and support. Primarily the OTW Dive cylinders.

Mr Dimmick had a particular way of doing things in a particular way with his Cylinders. Some degree of tech support is available through Ken reports at this time but really everything is on hold to see what Liz and Bobs wishes would be.

Bob Dimmick didn't always use specific parts like pumps and solenoids without making some small special changes tKen said and he was only learning about many of them only fairly recently.

Ken Griffin said he had the pumps figured out exactly how Bob did his way but still was learning about what solenoids Bob used.

Officially all that is known is:
"At this time there is no information I can share with you on the outcome of what she (or Bob's wishes) is going to be done with OTW".

Our condolences to Liz his wife and will hear something when it is time. Liz his wife will respectfully need some space to mourn her loss (her family and Bobs).

Bob had one last dream sub he wanted to start building but never was able to get around to it X-1.
