Well maintained boat. I judge a Navy's lethality by how well they maintain their assets. Chinese are gonna be a big, big problem one of these days, likely over Taiwan. Stay tuned, sports fans.

If you only knew what I went thru to get these pictures. These four were "Bitmap" pictures that I had to "Extract" from a slide show. Started out my computer wouldn't even recognize that there was a savable picture in there. Then I couldn't get them to load in so as to change there format. But in this business you have to be TENACIOUS!

Is that anechoic tiling on the hull or is the hull made of small steel plates welded together?

If the balloon ever goes up in the neighborhood, I seriously doubt it will be over Taiwan but most likely other territorial &/or resource issues in the South China Sea. The Chinese were always known to be good foreign policy negotiators in the Ming Dynasty & you can be assured that the current leadership in Beijing are well on their way to picking up where they left diplomacy through economic means six centuries earlier. China will not get itself into a military conflict with the West like it did with Mao's idiotic foray into the Korean War, it doesn't need nor want that.

From your lips to God's ear. I can still smell the smoke from that IRBM they lofted off the California coast.

No need for missiles when all they have to do is initiate the code & our power grid goes dark and Wall Street is crippled by service denial attacks. Lets hope that's just the stuff of fantasy writers.

Notice this picture. It looks like the snow cannot adhere to the joints of the tiles on the deck. I wonder why????Click image for larger version

It's late in the day, the topside structures have been heated by the sun, it's late, a front moves in, The thin plating gives up the heat quicker than the stringers and frames beneath. So, the metal plate (skin) atop those structural elements is a bit warmer than the unsupported portions of plate. Snow melts over the stringer and frame portions, but clings to the cooler unsupported sections of plate.

                            Duh!

Seriously though, Mark: Great, wonderful stuff you have been dumping here -- thanks to you my shop productivity has dropped a bit.
