    D & E Miniatures 3.5" Variable Volume Ballast Tank

David used to have variable volume ballast tank that can be adjusted between 32 and 16 oz.
So that, one wtc can be swapped between 2 different boats. Click image for larger version Name:	16-4cdbdedb84.jpg Views:	0 Size:	75.6 KB ID:	184139

    Why didn't it catch on?
Because it didn't catch on. Few people wanted to be burdened with the task of swapping one cylinder between two or more boats. As it turned out, people elected to buy a dedicated WTC for each boat in their fleet. Good product, but little market for it. Lesson learned.

It caught on with me. I still have mine, and I used to swap it between my 1/48 DeBoer Skipjack and my 1/72 Alfa.
