Hi, do I assume correctly that each of the doors for the launch tubes open independently? I am deciding how I want to implement these and wanted to be sure they didn't open in groups or banks. Thank you. Khim

Thx for the response, I can determine a mechanism, what I am trying to confirm is that each door would be opening individually, so for example you wished to fire #1 then #2 then #3, would door #1 open then close, then door #2 open then close, then door #3 open then close? I wanted to be sure the opening wasn't ganged like doors 1 to 4 would open at the same time. If I go to the trouble of implemented a mechanism to open one at a time the last thing I wanted was for a more knowledgable person to tell me ... no dummy they open in pairs or something else. I realize this would have to be answered by someone who really understands the operation of this model of sub as is it not a modeling type of question, I googled without answer and didn't find the owners manual for a los angles class :)

All vertical launch tubes on 688's (flights 3-6 (SSN-719-725, and 750-773) are operated individually via the HML-22 valves. The valves are operated via the vertical launch panel which is in the vertical launch space for flights 3 (SSN-719 and 720) and 4(SSN-721-725, and 750). It is separate from the CCS Mk1 panel for the horizontal tubes in the torpedo room). For flights 5 and 6, they are incorporated into the new AN/BSY-1 system and the new single panel is all in the torpedo room. Note: Externally on your model, there are some minor differences topside between them, but the biggest difference is the third flight which have a different configuration of the missile tubes, than the rest of them. The missile tubes are numbered 5-16 and called as such. There is no salvo launching of these tubes during a firing mission. You prepare and open hatches on the tubes to be fired, and they are done so individually. The weapon is prepared separately, but can't be fired until the missile tube is ready.
