While attending Subfest at the Maritime museum in Manitowoc, WI I came across an outdoor stand of a history related group from Oshkosh. To get some attention they had an inflatable 1/11 scale model of this nuclear sub yet to be launched.
I never thought much about inflatables, but in this case this worked well as the shape was simple enough and from a distance it looked really good. Only when you get closer you realize it is an inflatable. Perfect for an event like this or any other Subfest to get some food traffic coming to your booth. When they were done, the let the air out and folded the thing down to a suitcase size. I didn't ask them what it cost but this ain't cheap. I'm guessing the price of a small car. This was done by www.landmarkcreations.com
Strange that they chose 1/11 scale as that's really neither here nor there. I would have gone either for 1/12 or 1/10 and you could have some related models with it. Oh, well.
