    A bit of progress on my old Holland project.....still working on the Otto Motor, that has much more in common with a steam engine than with a modern combustion engine, e.g. the revolution speed was controlled with a centrifugal governor.

    I ran into this excellent 3D model of the HMS Holland by Mark Alloway:

    Old model that I’ve redone using the Filmic color management settings and the new Principled shader.


    As I'm missing source material for the Engine I contacted him to learn where he got his information. He was very helpfull, and I'm happy to say, that I got some very accurate drawíngs of the Otto engine . That's a big differenece,....

    Took a while, but thank to the nice hint by Mr. Subculture I got hands on the John Lambert pans of the HMS Holland, got them scanned and now I'm good to go....
