    Waterproof Servo-Really!

I am trying to obtain a waterproof (IP67) servo and they are backordered till September 22. and its only an IP 67! So I decided to do what I do and make one...I wanted to use readily accessible parts-concentric sizes of brass tube a cup seal from Nautillus Drydocks and regular soft solder (well within any good modeler's wheelhouse) and the servo is sealed inside a fiberglass box with 5 min epoxy
The finished product is 1/3 the size of what I am presently using and 1/2 the weight.

Nano/Micro servo with cup seal on output shaft and completely potted in epoxy

Time will tell-it will shortly be sitting at the bottom of a 4ft 2" Diameter PVC pipe filled with water to test it at Depth...Stay Tuned!

Update-I stopped the test after 5 days boredom set in and I needed the servo arm back...

So-the prototype servo has been operational under 4 foot of water for 48 hours-I guess that I can claim at least an unofficial IP67 rating-I am shooting for one week watertight. As a matter of fact I am so OK with the results thus far that I have started to fabricate the two servos that will go into the model...the prototype was a crunchy bottom of the scrap bin find from 2003 and I want two modern matching servos-

4ft column of water in a 2' PVC tube-the servo is at the bottom and periodically I test it in situ with a servo tester-I can hear it responding to the inputs without having to remove it each time.
The assembly line waiting on the cup seals (someone forgot to order with enough lead time for trusty USPS (I get so used to Amazon Prime!)
