                I see their strategy, make the sail huge so that submerged, it looks like a bigger boat......

                      Looks like an evolution of a well performing hull (the KILO one), but there are things that reminds me other submarine: Shapes of the ASTUTE (turtle back), the VIRGINIA (fin front slope)... and agree with Mr. M: Very well mantained ships talks a lot of their crews performance as well.
