Pete, feel free to do a photo-dump in any of my threads -- this is great stuff! I've never seen these shots. Most useful down the road when it comes time to weather and mark Mike's and my KILO.

I reckon you should at least put the nose art on 1 of them. I am also intrigued to know what prop you are making 6 blade or 7 blade ? I did find this picture where it has Christmas baubles between the blades and the vortex attenuator. I will also concentrate my efforts on weathered Kilos. I thought the bow and stern deck shots might be helpful though. ALSO DO YOU WANT A COPY OF THESE PLANS ?!!? if yes let me know your email and I will buzz them over.

I have seen the above screws in pics with the Alrosa before ?!?

Based on the pics I have got of her I think that the size of the shroud is more to do with fitting the stern planes and rudder to as opposed to some super duper propulsor.

That's a thought -- do the crest at the leading edge of the sail. Is that what you mean, Pete? I'm a good hand with paint-brush. Might give it a shot.

I'm doing the seven-blade Project-636 propeller. You're simply killing me with all this great dope, Pete.

Does this means I have to start being nice to you?....

The ALROSA's rotor appears to feature a ring that conforms with the inside of the shroud. I think the two screws to the right are not related to the pump-jet. However, in the same shot, that appears to be the after stator and dunce-cap/bullet of the ALROSA's PJ. Great shots of this PJ, Pete. You're making me nuts!

Not sure what being nice has got to do with it, this is a community we help when and where we can.

Yeah, me too. Screw that whale thing -- it's the city/state crest I'm interested in, and what appears to be a squadron mascot placard on the side of the sail.

Got the drawings. Man, you come up with the goods!

I suggest that those two mystery propellers are actually the rotors that reside within the secondary propulsion ducts set within the mud-tank, under the horizontal stabilizers.

OK ......didn't know they had this secondary propulsion.....think you are spot on.

As far as I can see the propulsion comes from these blades....

I think the size of the shroud is purely because of the lack of space behind the control surfaces on a normal Kilo....

However on the evidence that I can find there doesn't seem to be much in the way of an opposite swirl Stator but that is purely based on the pics.

I stand corrected. As these new photos (to me, anyway) show that the rotor is not ringed as I suggested before, but that what I saw was actually a fixed 'rub-ring' set into the after portion of duct that surrounds the rotor. For structural reasons along there has to be struts ahead of the rotor (needed to support the duct, as the two Stabilizers are not enough). If these have a zero angle of attack then they are simple structural elements, if they are pitched, then, yes, there is a set of pre-swirl stator blades ahead of the rotor.

Stupid brain: stop working so fast, you got shop work to do!.....

                            Pete: great stuff as usual.
