Nice job Peter! I took it and enhanced it a little bit to see if we can see some more detail. Didnt help much. Interesting the wire mesh behind the props.
Never saw any suggestion in the literature over the years about the shrouds. Likely a retro-fit. If those duct support struts are canted, we may be looking at poor-mans pre-swirl stator type pump-jets.
A very, very interesting picture there, Mark. Good man!
No problem Mark. I have a feeling this may be a launch or relaunch shot and they are just there to protect the props? they don't look particularly hydrodynamic and this thing was built to go quick. Maybe it was icy when they got it wet again? Here are 2 more pics of it 1 is more modern and the other I think is some sort of promotional shot.
Note the flappy stern plane type thing between the props.
No, that was a practical propulsor arrangement, not ice guards. A kort system at the very least; a pump-jet conversion at best. Likely near the end of the boats service life.
Gents, Many times I do not include an explanation of the pictures because of the caption that goes with the picture , where I or the previous person has labeled the shot. All three of these pictures have the included caption. Im just trying to see if anyone is having trouble seeing the caption. A little feedback , if you please.
Bottom one (the scope) is likely a FOXTROT -- I see what appears to be three engine-order telegraphs in the background. Too much room in there to be a QUEBIC.
