    A Very interesting Sturgeon class submarine. The Richard B. Russell started out life just like any other Sturgeon only to be chosen for a special mission. To perfect the DSRV rescue mission. She was in service from 1975 until 1994. Early on she recieved a unique modifacation and that is what caught my eye. A housing was installed just behind the sail to house a tethered antenna buoy. It was not repeated on any other boats. But it recieved the nickname "Russell Bustle" in honor of its unique bump. What I dont know is what is the purpose of the housing(bump) way back on the stern. Maybe you guys can fill me in.

      Perhaps but all the puffs that I ever saw were three smaller units placed up and down the length of the sub. This is one big fat one. Perhaps........perhaps
