While surfing along the Navsource Online site I came across some photos of the Buoyancy Assistance Modules or BAM.


They look just like walkways.
Exactly what they and how are they used?

I believe that there is more to them than meets the eye. The text of Navsource says that they "float" 637 and 688 boats into drydock. Maybe it makes them easier to handle going in and once inside and the water is drained they assist in supporting the boat.
