The program seems to leave 1 icon in the 'attached files' slot at the end of the post. If you delete it, you lose the big photo. I can live with that.

        Mike,
Glad you got it to work, sort of. The problem, as I see it, is most people will not take the time you did, this site was much easier to upload at one time, then it had an issue of uploading multiple pictures at one time and we were limited to the "basic" uploaded. Now we have this. At minimum a tutorial needs to be set up that will give guidance on what size or dimensions work best. like you have done in this thread, but placed on the home page.
I went to the vBulletin forum and looked up this issue. There seems to be a few postings. Some were with photos not resizing and that might need to have a settings change:

"There is a setting in the /core/includes/config.php file for maximum height and width of allowed images. Images larger in any dimension are discarded.

The code in recent versions of VB5 look like:

        Code:
        // ******** IMAGE PROCESSING OPTIONS ******** // Images that exceed either dimension below will not be resized by vBulletin. // If you need to resize larger images, alter these settings. $config['Misc']['maxwidth'] = 4608; $config['Misc']['maxheight'] = 3456;
But you can/should increase those values if you are attempting to upload larger images."

I also found this posting from a thread of someone who just bought vBulletin 5 and had tech support respond with this:

"I can confirm it's not working here, but it does work on my test site- yes I downloaded it from your link (but just in case I downloaded it again, and it still works.) Image dimensions are 1920x1080. However the attachment settings on this site may not allow images that large, I don't have access to check that.

Can you verify in your Admin CP -> Attachments -> Attachment Options, what is the max resolution for JPG files? Also, the max file size? Sometimes increasing the max file size helps."

Other postings seemed to say that is just the way it is going to be. I am not skilled on vBulletin and in no way an expert, but I do know that a conversation with vBulletin may lead to some resolution and answers. If you paid for support, it might make sense to get online with them.
        Peace,
        tom

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

OK So I reset the maximum width 4608 and the height 3456, so lets see what that does.

Advanced Editor (big A top right of screen)

I loaded this pic from the "IMAGE' icon with no problem, so that's a first. But it would only allow me to add one photo, not a group.

On checking, this method now doesn't ask for a file size, it just loads the picture full size! By Jove, I think we've cracked it.

Now to try the 'Upload attachment' icon (next to the big A (Advanced Editor Icon)

I uploaded 6 files with no problem.

Now I will choose 4 files at random, not in the order they appear in the small icon list. Click image for larger version

It seems that you can now upload single files with the IMAGE icon, and write test next to the pic, or upload multiple files in one block using the UPLOAD ATTACHMENTS. With this method, you then need to choose the files you want, in the order you want.

If you look at the list of small attachment photos, you'll see there were two of the same there. I deleted one. Not sure how you got two, but who cares, it's fixed!

It just gets easier! We've been doing it all wrong! There is absolutely nothing wrong with this program, it's just the method we've been using.

I will make a 'sticky' instruction note shortly.

Note how I have added the same photos but all are different sizes.

You DO NOT need the A (advanced Editor)

Firstly, Click on ATTACHMENTS - (top right -square with paperclip icon)

Choose all the photos you want from your hard drive. It's easier to have them all in one folder - BUT you do not need to enter them into your post until you actually need them. If you want to add more pics, you can 'UPLOAD ATTACHMENTS' at any time.

From the ATTACHMENT LIST (positioned below your post window) simply click on Insert: Thumbnail Small Medium Large Fullsize Remove whatever size you require. The photo will post to wherever your cursor is positioned.

                              Good grief! It's that simple!
