    Thanks to all, that is reassuring advice. I will be practicing on the Wilhelm Bauer sub before I tackle the "easier" Skipjack which only requires the vertical cuts

        The verticals cuts will feel like nothing after doing the horizontal. Best wishes and we are here for you?
        If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
