A long lost tradition of Long Island is back!
Trim Party \ trim \\ ˈpär-tē \ noun
1. A prank often perpetrated on a newly-qualified Dive Officer or Chief of the Watch, where a large group of men move fore and aft to affect the trim of the boat. Starting forward, the boat takes on down bubble as it’s affected by the weight of the group. They are then alerted by a watch by the Trim pump that it has energized due to the DO pumping water aft to compensate. This band of merry men move aft quickly, where the weight has now doubled. The DO now moves water forward, and so do the wayward shipmates!. Soon the boat oscillates up and down in a frantic cycle usually until a Chief loses his coffee and ends the shenanigans. Good Times!
2. A group of RC Submarine model nerds gathering at one of their local enthusiast’s homes to “trim” their little prides-o-joy for the upcoming “Sailing Season”. In the northeast United States it’s usually held in May when the Admiral releases the poor wanna-be’s from Spring House/Yard Refit Duties. Also Good Times with much joy!!
This year it will be held on Friday, May 25th at “Sub” Ed’s getting us ready for the Groton Fun Run.
