Correct me if I'm wrong but those are solid cast resin hulls aren't they? Wonder if David can come up with hollow hull versions which can be then RCed? Would love to have a Sturgeon!:)

      Great minds think alike.

Though not truly 'solid cast', the wall thickness is substantial, and the resin is un-reinforced, so the kits, as they are now manufactured, are not suitable for r/c. but, by using my masters to produce tooling suitable for thin-walled GRP hull fabrication, we have (in these two kits) the perfect 'pocket' true-scale r/c submarine -- the little 1.25" SubDriver would have plenty of room to hide in there.

The missing ingredient is TIME. So many other things to tidy up here first.

      David,
      Who is John Galt?

LOL. You're a hard man, sir. Now I have you, in addition to Mr. Caswell, to deal with? Score card is in: I'm in hell!

            David,
Well, if you will eat raw meat and chew bones, AND wear pink underwear, you deserve to be there! I have no sympathy.

Me too and in 1/72 scale. There is a kit in the pipeline.

                  David,

Why not just vacu-form the hull halves?

The vacuforming process is unable to capture all the surface detailing as is the GRP process.

Don't quite know where to post this, but since this thread has popped up, I'll comment here.

Getting ready to start on my first large-scale RC sub (Trumpeter Seawolf) and, having read several construction threads I was mulling over how I was to deal with some of the details of the build. I happened in here, and lo and behold, there are a dozen Cabal .pdf documents that answer every question and then some. Thanks!

                          I am impressed...

I am a (say it with meaning and some reverb) God!

A 1/144 scale SEAWOLF is not my idea of large-scale. But ... whatever blows up your skirt.

You'll find that we changed the SD design to a 2" unit -- the original was a rather crowded and difficult to manage, 2.5".

If the PDF files don't answer, pitch your *****es and problems here, I'll try to put things right for you.

                            Have fun.
