    Finishing a Propeller

    Hi David,
In your Detailing the OHIO DVD you show how to finish and paint the prop. Radio Shack no longer carries the circuit board etch which is used to etch the metal prior to priming. Can you give a new source for small amounts of this etch?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
I've heard that vinegar works if you leave the part soak over-night. Either that or you can always use the old stand by in Coca Cola!

Joel's right on the money, vinegar will do the trick. Bring it nearly to a boil and soak and agitate in that -- so it won't take all night.

You could also use an etch primer.

Dave, I just bought Caswells nickel plating kit for my props. Should I follow the instructions in the kit as far as prep or should I pickle them with vinegar first or the Ferric Chloride if I can find some?

No, give them a nice bright finish with #600 sandpaper, Mark.
