    Mobius skipjack 1/72 out now

I just imported to the UK 2x of the New Moebius 1/72 Skipjack.

Well they just arrived from the states Wow Mr M you really have made a fantastic job of this kit from the stunning art work on the front of the box which makes you feel like a kid at Christmas,
On opening the box you find a wonderfully planned out kit for the world of modelling for a static display model or a RC model.
Well I'm off now to speak with my best mate Ron Perrott to mull over a few idea's my new sub.

You would think that Moebius would give Caswell some consideration, like a BIG price break on the price of the kits so that you could compete big time with Tower. I dont care whether your price is higher or not, I would still rather buy from you than Tower or Omni.
IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!

No, Mark, that would not be fair to Moebius.

I've come to appreciate how small the margins are between Moebius, the distributors, and retailer's. Just not that big of a pie to split into un-equal gores. Moebius owes Caswell no special consideration -- the work I did was on my own time.

Sure, I steered the design of the kit (as best I could, without increasing production costs) to be 'r/c friendly'. But, other than that, I insured they produced a reasonably accurate representation of a SKIPJACK class submarine. There is no other linkage between Moebius and Caswell, professional or personal.

Fantastic kit. I was kind of out of the rc sub stuff for a few years but this kit has me going again. Merriman may be a ******* but he's my kind.

We all have Dave Metzner, the Moebius Product Development guy, to thank for that. He kept after the Chinese till the tooling was as good as we could get it. I believe we went through three test-shot cycles before the go-ahead was given for production. Now, that's a commitment to quality!

The cherry on top is the work of Bob Plant. He did the box-art (photo-shopped image of a Dave Metzner assembled kit) and kit instructions.

As good as the box art is (lid and side-panels) it is only an interm measure -- future releases of the kit will feature a specially commissioned painting of a SKIPJACK in dry-dock my a noted Japanese illustrator. I've seen it, and this guys work is outstanding. You'll see his recent work on the box of the recently released Moebius movie version of the SEAVIEW.
