The first kit of the enhanced SWM 1/96 BLUEBACK going together. This one will be Mike Caswell's ride -- I'm delivering it to him next week when we hook up at the Groton sub-base for a fun-run being put on my Ray Mason and those other guys up there.

Well! Though not painted yet I got the 1/96 BLUEBACK into real water for the first time, and this was at a recent get-together for a Saturday's run of r/c model submarines and targets At the Groton sub-base. A non-Subcommittee sanctioned event -- pointing out (through the free-form format of the fun-run) how much fun those get togethers at the North Lake used to be.

Anyway. Here are some shots of the completed model BLUEBACK, it's box, and a like. The last shots are of some preliminary work on the 1/96 KILO kit parts.

As well as some YouTube footage:

I really like the vertical side shields on the rear planes. Very distinctive. Rose Merriman is really starting to build a Youtube Library. There are quite a few videos listed on the right side of the Youtube page.

... Only because her idiot Grandfather does not have the smarts to set up his own account. With each new submarine video posted to her site, another group of her mouth-breathing friends un-friends her on FaceBook (evil plot unfolding as I foretold ... chalk up another one for the evil Emperor!)

                    Oh! This is so gratifying!

I just spoke with HWSNBN and he's had a problem.

It was several years ago, he sent me the molds to pour lead into to make weights for the Seaview. I, being an idiot, decided to pour this stuff into the molds after melting the lead in a can over my BBQ. Unfortunately, I missed the mold and poured a little lead over my foot( in flipflops), the wound took a month to heal.

Today, I learned HWSNBN was pouring lead in his flipflops. missed the mold, and poured it over his foot. BUT, he was also wearing nylon socks! Apparently, he's still picking bits of burnt nylon out of his toes.

Don't pour lead in flip flops. Don't wear nylon socks in flip flops pouring lead!

Old farts take a while to heal!

OK, boys and girls! The first of the five re-worked and re-released Small World Model 1/96 submarine kits is ready to ship. Here are some shots of the BLUEBACK kit:

The link to the entire picture does not work. It goes to a login page.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
