  • Revell Skipjack and salt water exposure

    My research group at UVA is looking for a RC sub for use in a salt water pool. The Revell Skipjack and conversion kits from Caswell look like a good option for our work. I was hoping someone with experience with this model can provide details about the speed and turning radius or any potential issues with salt exposure. I have zero experience with running or building RC models so any advice or other recommendations would be appreciated. I assume I need to purchase:

    Salt water attenuates or limits the transmission of radio waves. You will have a hard time controlling your sub. Unless you'll be running your model at periscope depth all the time with the receiver antennae sticking out of the water ( inside scale mast).
    Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

      Would it be possible to add a wire antenna connected to a small float (eg fishing float) that the sub tows.
