Back to the shop . Finally !

Started new build today after months of hard chemo I am finally able to get back to building just really slow . New project Glomar Explorer with some added touches . That is a D&E SkipJack in the moon pool . The hull is 83 inches long so yes it will be a monster when finished . Plan on a lot of moving parts on the build ,plus two helo pads . I start moon pool sides tomorrow and maybe some decking .

Welcome back to the world, Jim. Ain't chemo the best?!...

... sure, it kicked your ass. But -- and this is no small point -- it's kept you on the up-side of the dirt. Take your pills and do what the Doc's tell you.

What's the scale of the Hughes Beast? Someone better get hot on a GULF class boat for the thing.

Honestly , I haven't gotten that far yet . I have been stuck in bed for so long and this build got stuck in my head . I laid in bed for four weeks drawing up the idea and the changes I wanted to add to it till I almost made myself crazy . I don't want it exactly like the Glomar and have thrown out K.I.S.S right out the window . I am adding another helo pad on front with Black Hawks and turning rotors and cranes that work . I am adding underwater cameras and lights for night recovery . HAHAHAHA . I have several pages of drawings of stuff I want added to this ship . Dave ,you know me I am going all out or its just not worth the effort . Oh and bow thrusters and working anchors . I will think of three more things as I write this . I even thought about adding a second radio for cranes and sub recovery operation . Can you tell I am happy to be back in the shop ?

Jim, welcome back! I wish you a Speedy Recovery.Get the Boiler pressure back up and open the throttle up ,little by little. I see in your first picture, a lot of toys on the bottom shelf. We oughta ask Mr. C to open up a car section on his Forum so you can put them all in there. Glad to see ya kickin around.

Thanks , its great to be back . Greenman that's is just a small amount of the stuff that is shoved in my shop . I can give any hobby shop a run for their money . That is one thing that made it so bad during chemo ,being stuck in bed and all my toys are in the shop . Cant bring anything in to build because all my tools are out there . I did get to build three Tamiya Semis and trailers though . I just haven't been able to paint them . I am guilty of bringing a RC rock crawler inside and running over my legs all day . Its amazing what you will do when bored and scared . David , I went through some really bad chemo treatments and when done they said it didn't help and told me to go home and just get ready for well you know . But I went to a doctor in New Orleans who put me on a better path and he has slowed down my cancer . It has spread since we last talked and has about 80% of my liver .My pancreas has stayed the same though which is a miracle in itself . I hope you all enjoy this build as much as I am and I will try to post as much of it as possible , I will not be a speed demon anymore so please bare with me on this build . Thanks .

                    Jim,
I am glad to see you back at being creative and building again!
                    This looks AWESOME!
                    Peace,
                    tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Your Rock Crawler......Axial or Traxxis Summit? I heard of a new treatment thats having a lot of success lately. I think its Immunomimetics or something like that . At any rate they take tumorous growths from the patient and extract internal fluids from them and reinject it back into the patient. Your own immune system sees them and then knows what to look for. So far so good. Tell your doctor you wont have any of his guff and to get busy. He works for you and not the other way around!
